This role offers a competitive daily rate of up to £500, with a 12-month fixed-term contract. The position is primarily remote, requiring onsite presence in Warwick once per month.

Role Overview

The Back-End Developer will design and implement server-side logic, APIs, and database structures to enhance functionality and performance. You’ll collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders, ensuring high-quality delivery within an Agile SCRUM framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead back-end development using Drupal/Acquia Site Studio
  • Design and implement server-side logic, APIs, and database structures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements
  • Ensure defect-free deployment by working with the testing team
  • Write, refine, and progress JIRA tickets; troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain website through updates and security patches
  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and reliability
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and integrate advancements
  • Develop technical documentation (system architecture, API specifications)
  • Support deployment and monitoring in production environments
  • Work within SCRUM Agile Framework (training provided if needed)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Proficient in PHP with expertise in object-oriented programming and Drupal
  • Extensive experience in Drupal custom module development (Services, Plugins, Controllers, core APIs)
  • Hands-on experience with Acquia products, especially Site Studio
  • Command-line proficiency (Linux, Drush, Composer, Git, MySQL)
  • Strong knowledge of server-side languages (Java, Python, Node.js, Ruby)
  • Familiarity with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and data modeling
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and version control (Git)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in team settings
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker) is a plus
  • Experience in Agile product teams, ideally with SCRUM
