Role Overview
The Medical Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a professional and friendly welcome. You’ll manage appointments, handle inquiries, maintain patient records, and support the smooth running of the practice through efficient administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors professionally and warmly
- Schedule appointments and manage the diary efficiently
- Answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries promptly, directing them appropriately
- Maintain patient records accurately and confidentially
- Process patient registrations, insurance forms, and payments
- Assist with administrative tasks (filing, scanning, data entry)
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow
Eligibility Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role
- Previous NHS GP surgery experience essential
- Working knowledge of EMIS or Systmone systems
- Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures (advantageous)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in office software and electronic health records systems
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
